The mythical ‘YouTube Algorithm’ is something that has evolved and changed since the inception of the platform, with content creators attempting to game the system to their advantage at every turn.  While we can’t know exactly what YouTube requires to begin to naturally recommend your content to new viewers, we do have a general idea of metrics the current algorithm ‘likes’ to increase your chance of being picked up by the algorithm.

Each category the YouTube Algorithm considers in determining the ‘recommendability’ of your content is likely weighed differently, with some statistics more important than others.

The rank of these factors has changed dramatically over time, with eras in which Viewer Engagement and Watch Time were the formally weighted the heaviest now behind us. While those two categories still act as supporting factors, uploading clickable content that remains true to the Hook offered in the title/thumbnail is now primary driver of Browse Recommendations on the platform.
